Go Pro!

My newest gadget! In the beginning of March I acquired this pretty gadget, GoPro HD.
It’s a nifty camera that comes with a few mounts for flat or curved surfaces (a vehicle, helmet), and it’s able to record in high definition at 30 fps, or a few other formats some of them allowing for 60 fps fluid action!
After taking up so many gigabytes of hard disk space with ‘useless’ city traffic videos, i decided to mount it on my motorcycle‘s fuel tank and go for a nice downhill mountain ride. Here’s the fruit of my labour, enjoy

Nice vid
Can’t you somehow mount it in front of the windshield? It’s obscuring the road esp. when you head towards the sun. Or maybe mount it higher? (for instance on your helmet).

I’ve already tried an ear-level mount (on the helmet, not the skull).
It’s different and interesting as you get a couple new features when you mount it on the helmet. You have the option of focusing at passing landmarks (be they architectural or human) and you’re certainly more aware that you’re filming where your head is staring at. It also gives a more analogue feel to it, as the camera doesn’t receive all the bumps and general contour of the road. But it certainly receives your head checking the speed or looking someplace for no good reason
It can be a bit odd at times e.g. when by keeping a straight direction you swiftly steer the bike around objects on the road. It feels like you’re losing the ground off your feet for a short while.
EarCam view shall come in a short while.
